Reaching Out to Our Community and the World

​Parrish Nurse,    Delores Reid, RN

I have been a nurse for over forty years and during much of that time I have also been a nursing and health resource for Mountain Valley UMC. In 2002 and 2007 I took courses for Interfaith Parish Nursing with Shenandoah University. Parish Nursing focuses on holistic health and our spiritual well-being along with our physical health. Part of what I do for our congregation includes being a referral agent,health advocate, developer of support groups, educator and trainer of volunteers. We have health fairs, health educational moments through bulletin inserts, newsletters, special groups and visiting for individual support. Outreach occurs in the community through participation in local volunteer agencies as well as church supported events.
